SLW-NE PKP Ty42-24 circa 1982 RFQ

Another Refurbished Quality (RFQ) model is introduced in the SLW-NE collection by renewing the iconic Polish PKP Ty42-24 -as she looked worn-out and slightly rusted circa 1982- with refined modelling details and enhanced lighter textures, new lighting coronas and tweaks for TRS22 & Plus which gives new life to this magnificent steamer unit- always reasonably priced for a fine loco+tender set within this RFQ series.

The Ty42-24 locomotive was one of the units of the Ty42 class used by the Polish State Railways (PKP) which were built between 1945 and 1952, –this one in 1945– following the orginal design from the Baureihe 52 (DRB). These locomotives were primarily designed for heavy freight service and played a significant role in the transportation of goods throughout Poland.

The PKP Ty42-24, like other locomotives in the Ty42 class, featured a powerful steam engine and robust construction to handle the demands of freight hauling. It was equipped with the tender 32D43-542 to carry the necessary coal and water supplies.

This locomotive model is depicted as it looked circa 1982 and following years before being decommissioned in 1991. It was restored back to initial livery in the 2000’s for museum and enthusiast tours and currently it is awaiting repair in Poland’s Gliwice on the premises of Huta Łabędy SA.

  • This SLW RFQ series production is released with the well-known modelling skills by Marcin Skalbania and enhanced textures powered by Zato Visual Works. Interactivity enabled with coal and water consumption and loading in the tender unit. Full cab enabled with moving parts with an optional fireman available. New lighting coronas installed.
