The BR 86 855, also known as the Baureihe 86 855, was a steam locomotive used by the Deutsche Reichsbahn (German Imperial Railways) and later by the Deutsche Bahn (DB) (during the early 20th century. The Baureihe 86, or Class 86 in English, was a standard German steam locomotive design built for freight and passenger services.

The BR 86 855 was a member of the Class 86 series, which consisted of robust and versatile locomotives. They were built between 1928 and 1943, and a total of 776 locomotives were produced. The BR 86 locomotives were widely used across Germany and other parts of Europe.

These locomotives were known for their reliability and ability to handle various types of trains. They had a 2-8-2 wheel arrangement, meaning they had two leading wheels, eight powered driving wheels, and two trailing wheels. This configuration provided good traction and stability for hauling heavy loads.

The BR 86 855 and other locomotives in its class were primarily used for regional and local passenger trains, as well as light to medium freight services. They were commonly seen on branch lines and secondary routes throughout Germany. However, during World War II, the Class 86 locomotives were also employed in military transport duties.

After the war, many BR 86 locomotives were taken over by different national railway companies in Europe like this DB one. Some remained in service for several more decades, while others were retired or scrapped. Today, a few preserved examples of the Class 86 locomotives can be found in museums and heritage railways, serving as a reminder of the steam era in Germany.

This locomotive model is depicted as it looked circa 1966 and following years when German steamers were not taken care properly and rust started covering the shiny black liveries. After the 1968 EDV-Nummernplan (DB) it was renumbered 86 855-4.
